This sliding jaw expansion mandrel clamps the work piece from the outside. Clamping is via springs, release is performed pneumatically.

With this outer-clamping sliding jaw expansion mandrel the work piece is clamped via springs and released pneumatically. The angled arrangement of the sliding jaws results in a down-pull effect: the work piece is pressed against the work piece support. The position of the work piece is checked by air query. Lubrication is performed manually via lubricating nipples on the chuck body.
